Feis Checklist
Advance preparation makes a feis go more smoothly. This checklist will help you get organized.
Before the Feis
- Polish your hard shoes and soft shoes
- Check costume for spots or loose stitching
- Clean or mend costume as needed
Bring to the Feis
Clothing
- Costume(s)
- Kick pants (black briefs worn under girls’ costumes)
- Socks (tights for women)
- Cape
- Soft shoes
- Hard shoes
- Elastic straps and buckles for hard shoes
- Feis brooch(es), barrettes and/or earrings
- Your feis card
- Dress cover-up
- Headband and "scrunchie"
- Bobby pins
- Lipstick (rose pink)
- Crown
- Rhinestone clips
- Hair piece
- Wig
Accessories
- Hair spray
- Hair net to hold curls during breaks
- Safety pins
- Spare laces for shoes
- Duct tape (for the bottom of hard shoes)
- Pocket-sized mirror
- Water bottle
- High-energy snack
- Pen and paper to keep track of results (or write on competitor card)
- Money for snacks, feis program, souvenirs and feis supplies
- Still camera — but remember: no flashes and absolutely no videotaping during competitions!
- Entertainment for long breaks between dances: crossword puzzles, games, books, playing cards
- Something lightweight for dancers to change into after dancing
